Portier is an historical theologian who focuses on Catholic theology sited in US history and culture. From 2004 to 2021\, he served as Mary Ann Spearin Chair of Catholic Theology in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Dayton. His two most recent books are Divided Friends: Portraits of the Roman Catholic Modernist Crisis in the United States (CUA Press\, 2014)\, second place CPA Award for Biography\, and Every Catholic an Apostle: A Life of Thomas A. Judge\,\nCM\, 1868-1933 (CUA Press\, 2017)\, recently translated into Spanish. From 2014-2017\, he served as president of the College Theology Society and\, in 2015\, received the American Catholic Historical Association’s Distinguished Scholar Award. \nCOMMUNION OF THE SAINTS ART EXHIBIT\nThe Communion of Saints is an exhibit from the artist Marcia Whitney-Schenck which focuses on her depiction of various saints and their stories.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
